Privacy Policy
Who we are
Our website address is: https://rochdaleguttercleaning.co.uk
This website is operated by Rochdale Gutter Cleaning, who decide how information collected on this website is used. You can contact us using the details given on this website.
Cookies and similar technology
This website does not set cookies for ordinary visitors. We use the following:
- Cloudflare. We use Cloudflare to protect our site and help ensure it runs well for visitors. This means a small cookie called cf_clearance may be placed on your computer or device to show that you have passed our bot protections and allow you to access the website. You can read full details of any additional Cloudflare cookies in their Privacy Policy.
- Your cookie choice. If you use our cookie banner, your choice is saved in your browser’s localStorage under the name ms_cookie_consent.
- Returning-visitor ID (only if you accept cookies). A random ID is stored in your browser’s localStorage under the name ms_an_id. This is technically not a cookie. It is used to recognise returning visits, and it is removed straight away if you withdraw consent.
Embedded content from other websites
Pages on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, maps, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Analytics
We use web analytics software provided by Ahrefs, alongside our own in-house analytics.
Ahrefs web analytics is a cookieless solution, designed with your privacy in mind. No IP addresses are stored with analytics data. It helps us understand how visitors use our website, and how we can make improvements. You can read about it here. Details of the information collected is available here.
Our in-house analytics are first-party. They run on a subdomain of this website, no third-party analytics service is involved, and the data is not sent to third parties. They are privacy focused, designed to prevent your identity from being linked to your activity on our website(s).
If you do not accept cookies, we use a cookieless tier. If you accept cookies, we also use a random ID stored in your browser’s localStorage, which technically is not a cookie. We do not use this ID for visitors who do not accept cookies. On our server, it is stored only as a keyed hash.
In Depth On The Cookieless Tier
Nothing is stored on your device in this tier, and no cookies are set.
Collected: pages viewed and their titles, time on page and scroll depth, clicks on phone numbers, email links, forms, downloads and outbound links, the website that referred you (the website name only, with any query string removed), campaign (UTM) parameters, your screen size, your browser language and time zone, page load time, and your browser, operating system, device type and user agent.
Cloudflare works out your approximate location (country, region and town or city) from your IP address. Your IP address itself is never stored.
Your IP address (shortened to its network part) and your browser’s user agent are used only to make a salted one-way hash. The salt changes daily and is deleted after two days. This lets one visit be recognised during a day, but you cannot be recognised from one day to the next or be identified, and the hash cannot be turned back into your IP address.
The lawful basis is legitimate interests. We have balanced a privacy-friendly approach with our objective to optimise our website for users, through aggregated statistics with no profiling.
In Depth On Users Accepting Cookies
If you accept cookies on the banner or elsewhere on our website, a random ID is stored in your browser’s localStorage (technically not a cookie). It is used to recognise returning visits.
The ID is stored on our server only as a keyed hash, and it is not derived from your IP address.
Withdrawing consent removes the ID straight away. Click Cookie Settings then I Do Not Accept to reject cookies and withdraw consent.
The lawful basis is consent. If you later withdraw consent for cookies, we revert to the cookieless tier and legitimate interests as above.
If this site has no cookie banner, this tier is not available, and the site is cookieless only as described in the previous section.
Do Not Track And Global Privacy Control
If your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, or you use a tracker blocker, we do not measure your visit with our own analytics at all.
How Long We Store Analytics Data
Detailed event records are kept for 120 days.
Visit records are kept indefinitely, in compact form. Visits recorded in the cookieless tier carry only the daily hash described above, which cannot identify you or be linked to your other visits.
For visitors who accepted cookies, visit records carry your keyed hash. After 13 months that link is removed, so older visits can no longer be tied to your other visits, and the record that your ID has been seen before is deleted.
Daily aggregated totals are kept indefinitely. They contain no personal data.
When you request a quote
We partner with LeadsDoWork to provide quotes to our users with their lead generation service. When you complete a form to request a quote, the information you provide will be sent to their platform for the purpose of providing you with that service. You can read their full privacy policy here.
It is helpful to know which of our pages users find helpful and allow them to complete an action (for example request a quote). For this reason, on pages with a quote form we add a random code to the web address, which you can see in the address bar in your browser. An example is msv=q58gnq0aao. A new code is created each time a page is viewed. It is not based on you, your device or your IP address.
In this example, LeadsDoWork may pass the value q58gnq0aao back to us along with your enquiry when you complete a quote request.
We use the code to link your enquiry to the visit it came from, so we can see which pages and sources lead to enquiries. If the code is not returned, we may instead link the enquiry to the closest visit around the time you submitted it. We hold the enquiry details that LeadsDoWork passes to us, and this link means we can see how your enquiry arrived. We keep enquiry details only for as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry and for our business records.
Who we share your data with
If you complete a form, for example to request a quote, your information is passed to the third party named above to fulfil that request. Cloudflare processes web traffic for security and to work out your approximate location. This website is hosted with Amazon Web Services.
What rights you have over your data
You can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or erase it, and object to our use of your data, including the analytics described above. You can contact us using the details given on this website. We cannot find analytics data from the cookieless tier and link it to you, because it is not tied to your identity. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
For third party services described above, including embedded content and quote requests, you should also contact that service with requests to erase your data. We provide the privacy policy for those services above.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
